We've only just begun


A short (and slightly late)  update to announce the first release of our game, "Zaverox". This version is really an alpha-stage tech demo/proof of concept which was developed over three weeks in the Retro Platform Jam #6. Check out the jam - there are some great entries.

We're really proud of what we achieved, especially as (in hindsight) we gave ourselves some absolutely crazy challenges. Pretty much every part of the technology stack and the tooling we're using to develop this game is new to us, or involved skills that had gotten rusty  and needed getting back up to speed in. That made for a pretty stressful time, but we definitely both learned heaps in the process and enjoyed it a lot.

For us, though, the jam was really just the catalyst to kick-start the project. The intention is that Zaverox will grow to something much bigger and fuller than would ever have been possible in that three-week timeframe. Development continues, and we'll be aiming to post devlogs and new versions of the game here regularly. In fact we are already pulling together a day one patch, to be released after the judging for the game jam is complete this weekend, consisting of the inevitable collection of items that weren't quite ready in time to be included in the build we submitted. And then we'll be starting to develop the first feature release - watch this space for more news of that.
